Physical Education

Welcome to

Physical Education

with Mr. Wells

at Rockaway Meadow

One of the best things about teaching physical education is that I have the opportunity to interact with each and every student in our school. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have regarding your child's physical education class. The best way to reach me is by email at or you may leave messages with the office at 973-263-7308.

What have we done this year?

Our year has been filled with amazing things so far, with so much more to come.  We only have THREE months left, man does time fly by.  But here’s a recap of things we’ve done so far this year:

Floor Hockey

Cooperative games

Throwing (overhand, and under hand)

Cup Stacking

Jump roping (individual and long rope)

Along with all of these activities we’ve done so far this year, we also collaborated with The American Heart Association and Jump Rope For Heart to hold a week-long event of jump roping.  We were able to raise just under $3,000. Wow that's amazing, I want to thank everyone that was able to help raise money for this.

What do we have coming up?

We’ve done so much this year, and there is still so much more to come.  So, what do we have coming up during the remainder of the school year?  We will be doing:

More cooperative activities

We will also be having our Annual Field Day on Friday, May 18th, with the rain date on Monday, May 21st.  With last year being such a success, I am looking for volunteers to help again this year.  I will be sending out an email around the Middle of April to ask for volunteers for our Field Day. Any help would be great.  It is going to be another amazing day, which will begin to culminate the awesome activities we’ve done through the year.

Just a reminder

PE Class Guidelines

In my Physical Education Classroom Safety is my

#1 Rule.

The following rules will help to provide a safe environment in the gym:

  • 1  SAFETY
  • 2  Students must have sneakers to participate (No platform, open-back, or open-toed sneakers).
  • 3  No jewelry (except small stud earrings).
  • 4  Students should wear clothing that lets them move freely. They will be active, sitting on the floor and going outside. Please be sure that they are not wearing clothing that would prohibit any of these activities.
  • 5  If a student needs to be excused from participating due to illness or injury, please send a note into school. To be excused for more that 2 classes, a doctor’s note stating the duration of the excuse needs to be sent to the school nurse.
  • 6  Mrs. Capitanelli, our school nurse, and I work closely to ensure that a student's special needs are met.
  • 7  Please keep us informed of any health concerns that may affect your child's participation in Physical Education Class.
